"TURNED is an ideal story for young readers. Morgan Rice did a good job spinning an interesting twist on what could have been a typical vampire tale. Refreshing and unique, TURNED has the classic elements found in many Young Adult paranormal stories. Book #1 of the Vampire Journals Series focuses around one girl…one extraordinary girl!...TURNED is easy to read but extremely fast-paced....Recommended for anyone who likes to read soft paranormal romances. Rated PG."

So as I read I had a mixture of feelings regarding this book. I want to start by saying that I did enjoy the story, will I get the second one... not likely. It reads as if a middle schooler wrote it. words would be backwards, like a word that should be in front of another was behind it, and the repetitive sentences. Every few chapters she would have a few new words that she would use over and over "is he a vampire?", "He swallowed hard", One minute she is flying while on his back but then the next "he looks over at her by his Side" then she is on his back again. Or they're flying "high above the ground" and he wraps his wings around her... So how are they flying with his wings wrapped around her? In another part she is getting upset because she thinks his feeling have changed. He doesn't love her and he's just like all the other guys... they JUST met hours ago and she's giving him a guilt trip! Things like that are why I will not get the next book in the series. It was just too much for me, I had my hands in the air asking WTF too many times.

Before I wrote this review I wanted to make sure it wasn't a young writer. So I went to Amazon to look at the book info. There is always a picture of the author... but there was none. So I click on her name to get a bio. And pic....nothing!!? The only thing that was there was her other books. I started reading the reviews of those and someone says that she may be foreign. If that is the case she really should have someone who speaks English better to edit her books. With some coaching she could become an amazing author! And I probably would want that second book.
I gave it a four star rating because it was a good story and that's what I rate on. I got the book for free so I expect some mess ups, there was just a little more in this book than one would expect. For the price, I say get it and give it a try. You may end up loveing it and want to continue the saga. As for me... maybe I'll try again in a year or so to see if her writing has matured.

Turned Book #1 in the Vampire Journals eBook Morgan Rice Reviews

I do like vampires - not the sparkly ones though - so I decided to give this story a chance. And really I was bored so I decided to read this.

I should have stayed bored not reading this.

It was sort of interesting maybe ... I don't know, I read the first chapter than got bored so I decided to stop reading it. But then a few days latter I went back to it. It was still boring. I personally didn't like any of the characters, they weren't interesting to me at all. I was just not connected to any of them, I didn't care about them nor what happened to them. Half the time my mind was somewhere else as I was reading this, so that definitely says a lot. All I know is that one moment she has this instant connection to one guy in class, next moment - at the end of the story - she has an instant connection to some other guy.

The fight scenes were definitely repetitive. She felt super mad at some point and some super strength popped out of her and she'll knock her enemy out and ... that's it.

Honestly I can't remember half the things that happened in this book/story. The famous instant love thing. So there's s scene that she is captured by a vamp coven and they want to kill her because they think she's trying to take over the territory. There's a vampire that from said coven that saves her. That's fine. He takes her to his coven and his leaders because he thinks she's the "Chosen one" They of course don't believe any of it and they kick her out. That's fine. This girl ends up mad - not exactly really because they kick her out and she has no where to go - but because the guy that saved her didn't saved her for any other reason other than because he thinks she's the 'chosen one' and because he's married. I'll explain.

She get's mad at him because he save's her only because she's supposed to be the chosen one, not because there was something more there. Not because he didn't have feelings for her. And on top of that she's mad at him because he didn't tell her that he was married.

Really ... really ... ?!!?

Are you serious!?!? Oh my GOD, I swear when I read that part I wanted to smash my cell! In what time between him rescuing you, the vampires from the coven after you to KILL you was he supposed to inform you that he was married!?!? Was he supposed to say, "Wait, wait, wait vampires that want to murder us, but I have to let this lady know that I'm married."

o___O

Seriously!!!!

And why the flying monkeys would he NEED to let you know that fact!! He doesn't KNOW YOU. YOU BOTH JUST MET!!! For the love of GOD!!! What do you care the reasons he saved you, he saved you THAT should be what matters, NOT what you are mad about. She's also mad because he didn't have feelings for her. Oh my GOD!!! Oh MY GOD!!! Are you out of your MIND!!! You both just met not to LONG ago, a few minutes ago to be exact, how the flying monkeys is he supposed to have feelings for you!! Seriously!!!

Oh no, but there's more! HE ACTUALLY TELLS HER HE LOVES HER!!!

I can't read anymore of this story.

All around it's a boring story, no real character development, no real likable characters for that matter, instant love that sure as hell makes no sense at ALL. I didn't care of any of it. I'm not reading any more of the series thank you very much.
Caitlin is use to moving. Her mom moves her and brother Sam from town to town and school to school. But this school is more like a prison with barbed wire fences and locked doors and polices with guns everywhere. There are even body scanners and the kids yell and fights erupt all the time. She tries to remain unseen and alone and it seems to work as even the teachers don't care about a new kid in class. Then she see him. This quiet, beautiful boy and he offers her his chair. They talk quietly and meet again at lunch. His name is Ruben and he keeps one hand on his viola case. He asks her out to the concert that night at Carnegie Hall. On the walk home from school Caitlin sees him being beaten up by four boys and without thinking she runs to help. Instinct takes over and something else, something darker and deeper in her blood. She finds strength and speed she didn't know she had and that is only the beginning of the changes she faces. So you have to read to find out what and who Caitlin is. Dare you take this journey with her?
